About Us
A non-profit for the sustainability and future development of the Christopher Newport University Varsity Sailing Team.
The Christopher Newport Sailing Foundation (CNSF) is a 501(c)3 organization that was created in 1984 by two Christopher Newport University professors, George and Jane Webb. This organization was created to help promote the development of junior and collegiate sailors, more specifically at Christopher Newport University. However, the CNSF is not directly affiliated with the university.

Throughout the last two decades the CNSF helped grow the team with new fleets of collegiate FJs and 420s. The foundation worked alongside the university to obtain the Christopher Newport University Sailing Center located at the end of Menchville Road in Newport News, VA. Now, with the help of the foundation and the university, the team resides at Fort Monroe.

Foundation Events
The current foundation hosts two major annual fundraising events, the Russell Alumni Regatta Oyster Roast and the Christopher Newport Sailing Foundation Wine Pairing.
The Russell Alumni Regatta Oyster Roast is held at the beginning of November. The Oyster Roast brings the family of past alumni, current team members, and community supporters together in front of warm fires to dine on traditional Chesapeake Bay food and beverages.
The CNSF Wine Pairing is the non-profit's spring donor event typically held in March. The location can vary, however, donors can anticipate some of the finest wines and hors d'oeuvres on the peninsula.
All proceeds directly benefit Christopher Newport University Varsity Sailing Team.
